In response to widespread public concern about perceived increases in street crime in London,
the Metropolitan Police launched the Safer Neighbourhoods initiative in 2004. The aim was to
provide local wards with a dedicated team of around six police and community support
officers who would respond to the concerns of the communities, as expressed by a Ward Panel
comprising local residents, councillors and representatives of various groups.

A Canonbury Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) was established in early 2006 targeted upon
priorites set by the local Ward Panel. Ockendon Road is represented on the Panel by Alan Peake.

The current priorites of the Canonbury SNT and the responses to recent issues raised on behalf
of Ockendon Road are shown on Canonbury Safer Neighbourhoods

Can you help? The Canonbury SNT needs the active support and cooperation of
the local community if it is to succeed in its mission to deliver a safer environment. We can
help by gathering and passing on information about criminal activity or anti-social behaviour
in our neighbourhood. This can be by contacting the Canonbury SNT on 020 7161 9383 or Islington
Police on 020 7704 1212. Alternatively you can simply pass on the information via our e-mail
    address - contact@orra.org.uk
