In response to widespread public concern about perceived increases in street crime in London, the Metropolitan Police launched the Safer Neighbourhoods initiative in 2004. The aim was to provide local wards with a dedicated team of around six police and community support officers who would respond to the concerns of the communities, as expressed by a Ward Panel comprising local residents, councillors and representatives of various groups. A Canonbury Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) was established in early 2006 targeted upon priorites set by the local Ward Panel. Ockendon Road is represented on the Panel by Alan Peake. The current priorites of the Canonbury SNT and the responses to recent issues raised on behalf of Ockendon Road are shown on Canonbury Safer Neighbourhoods
