The new site is impressive with an attractive style and listing Panel meeting
dates, minutes and priorities. There are links to One Canonbury, Canonbury SNT,
MPS Neighbourhood Link and the Canonbury Society. Visitors are encouraged to
leave comments especially regarding current priorities but have to leave a valid
email address. Content will be initially only managed by AMG but, as the site
develops, there will need to be more than one editor.

The need now is for publicity about the site. AP will, together with AMG, design
a simple flyer for distribution around Canonbury. This will be emailed to NH,
VH, LN for posting on Southern Housing and other notice-boards on New River
Green and for dissemination to members of the Canonbury Society (JC) and the

Martin was thanked for his work on the website and complimented on the style and
format.

Residential Burglary
Number of offences increased slightly but downward trend towards the end
of the quarter. SNT still focusing on prevention - provision of window locks and
alarms in Caldy Walk and distribution of smart water kits. A number of arrests
have also been made.

Incidence is down overall but rowdy behaviour especially in Upper Caldy
Walk, Upper Lismore Walk is a continuing issue.

Agreed Priorities

Youth ASB
o
The offenders are known and the approach previously used with great success on
the Packington Estate will be deployed. Parents of suspected offenders will be
engaged in solving the problem. A variety of sanctions are available in the case
of non-cooperation

Robbery/snatch
o
As a Canonbury priority, other officers can be drafted into the ward as needed
o
Known hot-spots for snatches will be patrolled more intensively
o
LR to provide the poster about awareness of snatch crime to VH for distribution
on New River Green.

Youth Engagement
o
Fits with efforts to combat
robbery/snatch and ASB

Continuing close
collaboration with the Rosebowl especially concerning boxing training

AOB
o
NH expressed concern that Canonbury SNT would not be represented at the
forthcoming TRA meeting (19/04) for New River Green. LR stated that no officers
were available and that the priority must be solving crime. Nevertheless the
concern is that the recent reorganization dilutes SNT resources available for
Canonbury
o
LR reported that there will be a significant reduction of officers deployed in
Canonbury from 11/06to 11/09 as they are transferred to London Olympics duties.
PCSO’s will remain in Canonbury
o
The current SN model will be replaced by Integrated Neighbourhood Policing after
arrangement, response teams will deal only with emergencies and other officers
currently who deal with less urgent crimes will work flexibly with SN teams.

VH who has been seeking interest in joining the Panel among New River Green
residents, has identified a Turkish lady who is likely to join

There were no candidates for the position of Panel Chair which AP has vacated.
To be re-discussed at the next meeting. In the meantime, LR has kindly agree to
act as Chair. AMG will be asked if she is prepared to continue act as Panel
Secretary

widely publicized via the website flyers.
