Ockendon Road is a special location for several reasons. The trees, and the flower beds which
surround them, make it an especially attractive place to live. It's quiet yet there are a
wide range of amenities - shops, restaurants, pubs, etc - close by. Residents get together
from time to time to ramble in the countryside and for yoga classes, painting and other past-times
in which there is a shared interest. This website is intended to make residents aware of
the activities which make the road such a good place to live and to encourage others to
participate.
Ockendon's Milkman
Barry loves his job, getting a
particular buzz out of early mornings
- he thinks it might be his gypsy
genes (he is of Romany descent).
He's been a milkman for over 25
years, driving in from Bishop Stortford
at crack of dawn, which means he can
spend the afternoon in the garden with
a chilled beer. He's good at quick jokes
that don't really bear repeating.
